Training together, learning together

Ever wish you could see aikido through someone else’s eyes? That’s what a Friendship Seminar offers—a chance to step onto the mat with people from other dojos, feel a new rhythm, and discover fresh ways of moving together. These seminars are informal and welcoming. You don’t have to be an advanced student or know the hosting dojo’s style. You just show up, train, and experience aikido from a slightly different angle. Every dojo has its own “dialect” of aikido, and trying another one can spark insights you didn’t expect—about timing, balance, and even how you learn.

They’re also a great way to meet others who love aikido as much as you do. You’ll partner with new people, share stories between rounds, and leave with the quiet satisfaction that comes from training hard and learning something new.

Capital Aikikai of Wisconsin is excited to join this Midwest tradition by hosting a very well-known and liked aikidoist from the Midwest: Mike Weber Sensei.

About Weber Sensei

I have known Mike since I first moved the Midwest and he came to visit my home dojo of Harvard. I cannot really overstate what a good first impression Mike made. His ukemi was crisp, his technique was solid, and he was genuinely a joy to train with.

20 years later, his aikido has just gotten even better. Mike started his aikido with John Boland sensei during his college years. He eventually went to Japan to teach English and trained Shingu for a number of years.

Mike leads the Aikido of Wales dojo which functions inside the Kettle Moraine High School. That means there is always a constant flux of very energetic people of the mat. He also has a sizable number of regular students which means that whenever you visit their dojo, you are sure to have great keiko with old and new friends.

We are delighted to host Mike Weber sensei. I hope you can join us too.
